We enjoyed making our Mother's Day gifts and attending the ACES (All Children Exercising Simultaneously) event at school this past week!!
Math: In mathematics, we explored multiple ways to compare fractions using fraction bars and a number line. We also explored methods to evaluate fractions for equivalence. We also practiced our fact fluency and explored fraction-related writing prompts during workshop that allowed us to apply our critical thinking skills.
Science: We have started our unit on the Structures of Life! This week we made our clear mini-sprouters and placed a variety of seeds inside. The seeds are soaking in a special solution that is refilled each day by a table mate during science. The children are enjoying photographing, documenting and analyzing what they see, think, and wonder about their seeds on the ipad!
Reading/Writing Workshop: As we continue to explore our Non-Fiction books on our states, partnerships have also been adding details from websites introduced during media using their ipads and selecting ideas per topic idea. Additionally, partnerships have been selecting ideas under each topic heading that they find most interesting to include in their report. As readers, we learned how to scan for sentence fragments to use under each topic heading by looking at the text and captions and headings.
Spelling: Homonyms are the patterns this week!
