Math: M-Step testing for two days. Despite the short week and the testing, we were able to continue the unit we started earlier in the spring on Geometry. It will be our last math unit of the year. This week, we explored quadrilaterals, specifically rectangles and parallelograms. We answered many of our wonderings about these figures and their unique qualities.
Science: We wrapped up our unit on Crayfish! It was very exciting to investigate the behaviors and body structures of these unique animals. We explored how knowing and understanding crayfish body structures and behaviors can help us make inferences about other animals. We also tested our predictions about how crayfish establish territories in their habitats by observing the behaviors of two crayfish as they investigated a potential "home." Lastly, we began an exploration of HYDROPONICS. Please ask to see your child's reflection on their ipad and let them tell you about it!
Social Studies: We started our last region - the WEST. Our first stop was the Lolo Pass in Oregon where the trail of the Lewis and Clark Expedition is a historic site. We learned about the two purposes for the expedition: to find a water route to the Pacific and to explore the West!
Reading/Writing Workshop: We are finishing our Non-Fiction mini books about our States. Several of the children are done with their writing, revising, and pictures and are excited to utilize technology next week to show off what they know about their state!
